The Blowout Saxophone School is appealing for budding musicians to apply for this year's Ben Bailey Sholarship Award. The fund, which covers the cost of lessons at the school for a year, was set up in memory of Ben, a young saxophone player from Larkhall who died in 1998. The fund was established by the director of the school to mark the tragic death of the youngster who was killed in a car accident. Local children aged between 10 and 17, who otherwise could not afford the lessons are eligible to apply. The school usually receives more than a dozen applications for the award.
Another successful former Ben Bailey student is Ben Ross who is supremely gifted on the tenor saxophone and is now playing in the band 'The Duckworths'.He said of the scholarship
