THE NEXT BLOWOUT GIG NOVEMBER 2004

On Friday November 12th at The Inventions Arts Centre, Lower Borough Walls, there will be held the next Blowout Sax Gig. The last one exactly a year ago was the very best, with fantastic playing from you the Blowout Sax Student and a stunning premiere performance by JD's Harmonica students. This year will see the arrival of Pete Judge's students playing Trumpet so the whole of The Blowout Music School will be represented. It will be a stellar musical festival with 2 one-hour sets starting at 7.45 sharp and from 10.30 to midnight there will be some top quality jazz too.

150 Tickets will be on sale from the middle of October, costing the usual 8 pounds and due to The Inventions Arts capacity that is all we are allowed, so please book early.

OUR WORLD RECORD

Belated Many Many Many Thanks to all you who participated in Our World Record Success.What an event, playing, sound, experience and feeling to break a World Record. Our Official Certificate has arrived from Guinness (we are still currently World Champions) and soon it will be displayed in the Shop reception with all the wonderful black and white photos.

A few of The Big Blowout T-Shirts, DVDS and CDs are still available from the shop too. Needless to say more wonderful mega Sax schemes are a being mooted ..........Mark is working his kiester off to arrange some stellar gigs that will put the School and all of its students more firmly on the map.We at the Blowout Sax School can never be faulted for being backward in coming forward. So….here are some ideas in the pipeline….Negotiations are under way to make use of Glastonbury Festival’s Main Stage next year. We are also looking into a big big feature for the last night of the Proms. And for sports fans we are looking into Twickenham for a Blowout event

After the undisputed success of the 3 world record rehearsals of 225 and 450!! we have decided to run workshop days with slightly smaller numbers at The New Oriel Hall, Larkhall. The workshops will cover a variety of topics and are open to all players at any level of skill. All the Blowout teachers will be there each specializing in teaching different tunes and jamming skills. And we will be featuring guest saxophone legends to further inspire all those who book up for these very special sessions.Details of these sessions will be available from early January 2005. A schedule of workshops will be posted on the Blowoutsax website.

From January on alternate Mondays we are going to run a Saxophone Jam nights at Cafe Retro, with the emphasis on playing with other musicians and Saxophonists, socializing with great folk and all in an informal setting. This will be a very very important part of listening, learning and playing your saxophone. The jam sessions will be open to all players at all levels.

i.e. Mark and Craig and this year Stan are going to be performing at The Assembly Rooms for the New Year's Ball. Do try and come it's a fabulous event and it would be lovely to see some friendly faces. Tickets available at Moss of Bath. The Big Blowout Band are available for
a wide variety of functions, having played Longleat House, The Guildhall amongst others. They provide top quality party music and if you would like to hear their demo check out the band on www.blowoutsax.com.

There is a small but growing library of books and CDs in the School now. If you are interested in borrowing items please talk to your teacher. The library is always in need of further material, so if you have any music books or CDs you would like to donate to the Blowoutsax music library please let your teacher know.
